Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT), as part of the Project Management office (PMO) at SIRT, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating the work of all research project teams (faculty, staff, students and external team members) to ensure successful project outcomes. The incumbent provides operational support, as well as administrative support to project teams, including monitoring and facilitating project expenditures, assisting with writing applications, developing project scope and deliverables, and monitoring project execution. The incumbent assists in managing SIRT’s relationships, and outreach to business; ensures good working relationships with industry partners, faculty, researchers, and applied research administrators.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participating in industry events such as trade shows, seminars and conferences to develop contacts and promote the applied research mandate of Sheridan;
  • Ensuring projects are fully completed including co-authoring final reports with the faculty researcher, and coordination with the Operations
  • Manager, in fulfillment of all contract obligations;
  • Developing and implementing new PMO processes and procedures. Educate staff on changes and processes;
  • Providing administrative support and technical assistance (within the limits of his/her knowledge and experience) to researchers and clients from idea generation and proposal delivery process;
  • Assisting the full-cycle applied research process, in compliance with all Sheridan and Applied Research and Innovation strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Following up on projects that have issues/problems and documents the issue/problem and mitigation plan;
  • Coaching/mentoring project team members (faculty researchers and student assistants), and influences them to take positive action and be accountable for project progress;
  • Liaising with appropriate internal faculty and administration or support staff to ensure resources are available and support is provided;

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working in the film sector and with product commercialization;
  • Experience working with individuals and groups from the post-secondary institution system, government and the private sector;
  • Familiarity with ethical issues in research;
  • 3-year diploma or degree in Film or a related field with two years experience coordinating funded research projects in either a corporate or academic setting;
  • Knowledgeable of research funding sources and ability to influence stakeholders;
  • Project Management Certificate working towards is preferred
