TELUS People & Culture (P&C) team has been a key strategic partner and enabler to the business in supporting such magnitude and complexity of change and is now seeking a Director, Pensions & Benefits to build upon its world-class P&C programs.

Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the VP, Total Rewards, the Director, Pensions & Benefits (“Director”) will lead the design, development and execution of progressive pensions & benefits (P&B) policies to support TELUS’ 28,000+ team members. Whereas many organizations P&B policies are static, TELUS is constantly reexamining its plans and policies to ensure they are reflecting the holistic needs of their team members and the business. As such the Director will take on a highly strategic and thought leadership role where they will lead a small team of 6 focused on strategy, plan design, budgeting, and vendor management while partnering with internal and external providers on the actual operations and implementation of the plans. The Director will also need to be energized by the unique complexity of TELUS with its broad geographic scope, history, multiple legal structures, acquisitive growth strategy, and multiple business lines. They will need to consider provincial and national policy, unionized and non-unionized staff, multiple DB and DC pension plans, multiple vendors and supporting an aggressive international growth strategy.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring a track record of success leading a pensions & benefits function within a dynamic, large complex company or alternatively could bring experience as a consultant who has assisted large client organizations in both the strategic planning and execution of new pension/benefits programs. In addition to bringing strong technical expertise, they must be a resilient, pragmatic and humble leader with exceptional relationship building, influencing and communication skills in working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
